Baku
Baku - one of the most beautiful cities in the world - is located at the junction of Europe and Asia. The cultural, industrial, political capital of Azerbaijan is located on the western coast of the Caspian Sea, on the shores of the bay of the same name in the southern part of the Absheron Peninsula. The very name of the city is interpreted as "wind blow", "city of winds" or "hill", "city on a hill". By its antiquity, the size of the territory and population, this city is one of the oldest and largest cities in the East. Baku is both an industrial, scientific and cultural center of the country. It was here that the first national theater in the Muslim East lifted the curtain and the first opera was performed, the first university opened, the first Azerbaijani newspaper began to be published, and the first Azerbaijani reading room was opened. The modern capital, the "East Paris" of Azerbaijan, is surprising and admiring, and it is almost impossible to remain unhappy after visiting this city!
Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Gandjavi (1860)
The building of the Museum of Azerbaijani Literature named after Nizami Gandjavi was built in the 1860s. like a two-story caravanserai. Today this museum is one of the largest and richest treasures of the Azerbaijani spiritual culture.
Fortress Walls (Gosha Gala - XII century)
The fortress walls are the walls and towers surrounding the medieval Old City of Baku - Icheri Sheher. The old city in Baku was chosen as a World Heritage Site in 2000 by UNESCO.
Caravanserais (XVII century)
Multani (XV century) - the name comes from the area in India where Bukhara merchants arrived (XIV century) - in which merchants from Central Asia, the Small and Big Caravanserai stayed.
The bath of Haji Gaib’s Bathhouse (XV century)
Haji Gaib’s bathhouse is located in the Baku quarter of Icheri Sheher, opposite the Maiden’s Tower. The bathhouse was built at the end of the XVth century by the architect Haji Bani commissioned by Haji Gaib. There was a bathhouse on the trade and caravan route. The bathhouse remained underground for a long time and was discovered as a result of archaeological excavations of 1964.
Maiden's Tower (XII century)
The most magnificent and most mysterious monument of Baku is Giz Galasy - Maiden’s Tower, towering in the southeastern part of the Icheri Sheher fortress. In 1964 Maiden Tower became a museum and since 2000 it has been included in the UNESCO list of monuments.
Monument named after Aliaga Vahid (1990)
Aliaga Wahid is an Azerbaijani poet, Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan USSR (1943). One of the most interesting monuments of Icheri Shehae complex (1990)
Shirvanshahs Palace (XIII - XVI century)
Shirvanshahs Palace is the former residence of the Shirvanshahs (rulers of Shirvan) located in the capital of Azerbaijan the city of Baku. The construction of the palace was associated with the transfer of the state capital Shirvanshahs from Shemakha to Baku. The palace complex was built during the period from the XIIIth to the XVIth century.
Baku Museum of Miniature Books (2002)
Baku Museum of Miniature Books - Zarifa Salakhova, the founder of the unique Museum of Miniature Books began to collect a collection of microbooks back in Soviet times. The first "folio" she acquired was the collection of Krylov's fables. She was able to enlist the support of the government, therefore, on April 23, 2002, by decree of the President of Azerbaijan the museum was opened in one of the buildings of Old City near Maiden Tower.
Aliaga Vahid Garden (Governor's Garden 1830)
Aliaga Vahid Garden, previously known as the Mikhailovsky or Governor's Garden, is one of the oldest parks in the capital of Azerbaijan in the city of Baku. The Governor’s Garden known also as Mikhailovsky or Garden of the Revolution is in fact the oldest garden in the city and for a very long time remained the only garden in Baku. One of the oldest and busiest gardens in the city - Mikhailovsky or as it was often called by the residents, the Governor's (4,6 hectares), went through a long stage of formation, until the final planning structure formed, which fit so well into the relief.
Baku Seaside Boulevard (1909)
Baku Seaside Boulevard (1909) is one of the attractions of Baku, a favorite vacation spot for Baku people and visitors. In 2009 Boulevard celebrated its 100th anniversary. The length of the park before the reconstruction was 16 kilometers and after the general reconstruction is 25 km.
Little Venice (1960)
"Little Venice". In 1960, on the very edge of Baku Boulevard, the city authorities built an amazing complex of canals and islands. "Little Venice" is a landmark of the seaside park and is considered a favorite vacation spot for visitors to the park.
Museum of Azerbaijan Carpet (1967)
Azerbaijan Carpet Museum was founded in 1967, becoming the world's first specialized museum for the collection, preservation and study of carpet. The museum is a treasury of Azerbaijani national culture, showing the carpet in close interconnection with other types of traditional art of Azerbaijan.
Government House of Azerbaijan 1936 -1952 (passing)
Government House of Azerbaijan is a magnificent palace-type building in the Baroque style built by architects L.V.Rudnev and V.O.Muntz. The prototype for the three rows of columns on the sides of the building was the colonnade of the reception hall of the Shirvanshahs palace. Today, the Government House is considered one of the main attractions of the city of Baku.
Heydar Aliyev Center (2007)
Heydar Aliyev Center the project of which was developed by the famous architect Zaha Hadid is one of the most famous cultural centers of the capital of Azerbaijan
Upland Park (Kirov Park 1934)
The park can be viewed from almost anywhere in Seaside Boulevard but rising up offers the best view of the city. Upland Park is worth visiting at
different times of the day - in the morning to meet the sunrise, in the afternoon to see the main sights of Baku from a bird's eye view, well, in the evening you can look at it for a long time illumination of night Baku and admire the laser show Flame Towers. It is best to get to Upland Park by funicular - such a rare form of city transport, by the way, the Baku funicular is also a separate attraction in itself.

Fountain Square
Fountain Square is one of the main attractions of the Azerbaijani capital. The square has been the cultural center of Baku since the 1860s, it is surrounded by important historical buildings - "Araz", one of the first cinema halls in the country (1870); the old Grand Hotel; Nizami Museum, operating since the end of the XIX century.
