Azerbaijan celebrates a national holiday on May 9.

About 700 thousand citizens of Azerbaijan participated in the war, they fought heroically, half did not return. This is a great heroism that no one should forget. But there were also rear workers, who also made an enormous contribution to the Great Victory.

The Second World War was a war of engines, tanks and airplanes. At that time, one can say that the vast majority of the oil potential of the Soviet Union was concentrated in Azerbaijan. 75 percent of the oil produced in the Soviet Union accounted for the share of Azerbaijani oilmen. This oil was processed, turned into fuel  and it, and the people involved in its production, made a huge contribution to the common victory over Nazi Germany.
