Day of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan June 26

The Day of the Armed Forces is celebrated in the Republic annually on June 26. On this day in 1918, by the decision of the Government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, which was the first republic in the Muslim East, a regular army unit was created - a separate Azeri corps.

Today, the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan (the National Army of Azerbaijan) consist of ground forces, military air and anti-air forces, naval forces, National (Presidential) troops, as well as a number of other militarized structures. The commander-in-chief of the National Army of Azerbaijan is its president. Administrative management of the Armed Forces is carried out by the Ministry of Defense, and operational - by the General Staff.
