Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan November 9
Every year on November 9, an important holiday is celebrated in Azerbaijan - the Day of the State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan, officially established in 2009 by a relevant decree of President Ilham Aliyev. The date for the holiday was not chosen by chance. On this day in 1918, the flag of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was approved. The republic existed only until 1920 but the history of the banner did not end there. When in 1991 Azerbaijan left the USSR, the government approved the flag as a state one. A holiday in honor of him appeared in the calendar in 2009. Now November 9 in Azerbaijan is included in the list of public holidays. The history of the flag of Azerbaijan dates back to the Ottoman Empire. The banner of this particular country was taken as the basis for creating state symbols. The flag of Azerbaijan is a panel with horizontal stripes of blue, red and green colors. A white eight-pointed star and a crescent are placed in the center of the red stripe.
