Azerbaijan Independence Day October 18

Annually, on October 18, the Republic of Azerbaijan celebrates the state holiday - the Independence Day of Azerbaijan (Azerbayd. Azərbaycanın müstəqillik günü), established in honor of the adoption of the Constitutional Act on the state independence of Azerbaijan from the USSR on this day in 1991 by the Supreme Council. Based on the Declaration of Independence adopted by the National Council of Azerbaijan on May 28, 1918 and guided by the Declaration of the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan of August 30, 1991 "On Restoring Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan", the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan adopted the Constitutional Act on the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan and established the foundations of the state, political and economic structure of the independent Azerbaijan Republic. From that moment, Azerbaijan acquired state independence  and October 18 was a holiday of national independence.
