Republic Day May 28

Every year, starting in 1992, on May 28, Azerbaijan celebrates a state holiday - the Day of the Republic. Another name of today's holiday is the Day of Revival of Azerbaijani Statehood. It was established in honor of the proclamation by the National Council of Azerbaijan in 1918 of the independence of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. On the same day, the signing of the Declaration of Independence took place in the hall of the former Palace of the Governor in the Caucasus in Tiflis (today - Tbilisi). The formation of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918 is the brightest page in the history of Azerbaijan. And the following years, decades are significant stages in the life of the country, marked by bright events, great achievements of the Azerbaijani people. All this, taken together, created the economic, intellectual and cultural potential of present-day independent Azerbaijan.
