Jazz Festival
Jazz is one of the most popular musical styles of different generations of Azerbaijani listeners. Deep jazz traditions, dating back to the works of such legendary performers as Vagif Mustafazade and Rafik Babayev, are now successfully developed by modern artists of international level. Since 2005, the Baku Jazz Festival, which is being organized with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the country, has become the main jazz showcase of Azerbaijan.
Being such a large-scale event, the Baku Jazz Festival covers the best cultural venues of the Azerbaijani capital. Concerts within its framework are held at the Baku Philharmonic, the Rotunda jazz club, the Mugam International Center and the Heydar Aliyev Palace. The composition of the speakers also corresponds also consistently to the organizational level of the music festival. Over the years, world jazz stars such as Diane Kroll, Fourplay, Charles Lloyd, De Phazz, Jazzanova, Shakatak, Al Di Meola and Keiko Matsui performed on the stages of the Baku Fest.
The program of the Baku Jazz Summit is far from being limited to concert events. Among the more than 60 festival events are jazz workshops and seminars with renowned musicians, a showcase competition among young performers, exhibitions of thematic painting and photography. A one-day art festival of the Baku Jazz Kids, introducing jazz and musical improvisation of the youngest listeners, is a peculiar continuation of the Baku Jazz Festival.
