Plov Festival

There are hundreds of types of plov in the Azerbaijani cuisine, each of which is unique in its own way. On the eve of the Novruz holiday in the Baku Vocational School of Tourism a national festival of pilaf was held, at which 20 types of this traditional festive dish were presented.

There are many different recipes for how to cook this pilaf. Someone likes to make the dish sharper, someone to have more meat there. But unequivocally, nobody remains indifferent to Azerbaijani pilaf.

In order to show the richness of taste of Azerbaijani plov, to acquaint with the traditions of its preparation in different regions of Azerbaijan, the Plov Festival was held at the Baku Professional School of Tourism.

Aromas overwhelmed the hall, in which different types of pilaf were presented, traditionally prepared in different regions of the country.

Students of the school in Azerbaijani national costumes which gave a special touch to the event told festival visitors about the dishes presented, revealed the secrets of the recipes of their preparation.

It was noted that the Azerbaijani national cuisine is very rich and diverse. Pilaf is generally considered the “king” of national cuisine, and there are many different recipes for cooking.

During the festival, you can learn not only ways of cooking various types of pilaf, but also learn about the traditions and customs of the regions of Azerbaijan, and learn their history.

The Festival presents such types of pilaf as "Syabzi Plov", "Shah Plov", "Arishta Plov", "Lyavyangi Plov", "Merge Plov", "Guzu Plov" and others. The event also featured national sweets.
